I<\/em><\/strong>ntro: in the summer of 2023 I did a 1.614 km (1.000 miles) long biketour in Denmark and a bit of Sweden. I wanted to ride on a couple of old railroad-tracks, now converted into bike trails. <\/strong>
It took me 19 days in the sadle and it was a great adventure !<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Monday 10th of July 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today I woke up at my sister’s house in Ikast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She had already left because she had VERY early to walk her cute German Shepherd before she had to show up to work at 5 am due to lack of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather forecast from yr.no said there would be rain and possibly thunder between 08.00 – 12.00 with up to 14.4 mm of rain. So I chose to wait for the rain to stop. Then I had plenty of time to enjoy a few mugs of coffee in my sister’s kitchen with the radio on. Then I could also write a little more in the trip diary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I was eager for more adventure: I had washed my clothes + myself \ud83d\ude42 – and charged my powerbank. I left Ikast at 1.39 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My plan was to drive east towards Silkeborg, where the Bryrupbanestien starts. I don’t know how far I will go yet. The Bryrupbanestien starts in Silkeborg and ends after 60 km in Horsens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got to Silkeborg quite easily and quickly, probably because it was mostly flat, not much wind and cloudy (harder to cycle in hot sunny weather).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I reached Silkeborg, I found the start of the beautiful Bryrupbanesti, which is a track built on top of a disused railway. It is known as one of the most beautiful track paths in Denmark. The track paths are very good for cycling as you are away from noisy cars, usually have beautiful nature on both sides, no bad hills, and the surface is often compacted gravel. Former stations on the railway have sometimes been converted into rest areas with toilets, bench sets etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the bad weather in the beginning of the day, I had started late – this puts a natural limit on how far I can cycle before it gets to late. So I didn’t get to cycle that far along the Bryrupbanestien today before I started looking around for a place to stop for today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nearest shelter sites were about an hour’s drive away from where I was, but there was a campsite close by. Not quite optimal to go to a camping site the very next day after visiting my sister, but I simply didn’t want to cycle another whole hour. So I stopped at Bryrup Camping at 17.30 with 83% power left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
