Day 6/19 (2023 Summer Biketrip)
Intro: in the summer of 2023 I did a 1.614 km (1.000 miles) long biketour in Denmark and a bit of Sweden. I wanted to ride on a couple of old railroad-tracks, now converted into bike trails.
It took me 19 days in the sadle and it was a great adventure !
Tuesday 11th of July 2023
I started the day with a departure at 9.30 am from my tent spot at Bryrup Camping, which as the name suggests, is located in Bryrup. I continued along the beautiful Bryrupbanesti, which would take me to Horsens.
At one point I came to a semi-famous bridge that is on the route. “Den Genfundne Bro” is a beautiful sight in the middle of the forest, as it crosses a stream that flows through the forest below. It can definitely recommended to visit this place if you come to these parts.
In Horsens the Bryrupbanestien ended, but instead the regional route no. 53 “Bjerrelideruten” started. It goes 34.3 km SW down towards Vejle. It also gives a nice entrance to Vejle fjord.
The weather was good: cloudy with very little wind. However there were quite a few hills on this route that I don’t remember ordering… It knocked the wind out me a few times.
The entrance to Vejle through the Vejle fjord was a very nice sight – it was fun to see the big motorway bridge from a different angle than usual.
I found a really cool shelter at Vejle’s Sportfishing Club. It was built last year and there were very nice conditions – it was very close to the club’s toilet, which you could use.
There were two shelters, one of which was occupied by a boy about my own age who was about to hike part of Hærvejen. I think name was Chriss, he was from Funen and had a good sense of humour. He told me that if one day I were to buy a backpack, I should not buy a Osprey, but rather choose the brand Gregory.
Later, an elderly man drove by. He was a member of the Vejle Sportfishing Club. We had a good long chat with him. He told us that in the past there have been big problems with the young people who party out here, because it is secluded but easy to get to by a car or moped. The young people seems to be taking drugs out here. He said that he has previously collected up to 12 Nitrous oxide cartridges from the area at one time. Also alot of beer cans get left behind – Those he don’t mind – the deposits sponsor his vacations.
It started to to rain so he took – of we got inside our shelters. I put on some music while I wrote down todays adventure in my travel log while enjoying a cup of coffee.
