Day 16/19 (2023 Summer Biketrip)

Intro: in the summer of 2023 I did a 1.614 km (1.000 miles) long biketour in Denmark and a bit of Sweden. I wanted to ride on a couple of old railroad-tracks, now converted into bike trails.
It took me 19 days in the sadle and it was a great adventure !

Saturday 22nd of July 2023
I left Hørsholm at 11:15 AM. Many thanks to Lene and Villy for providing shelter for the night. It was nice to have a warm shower, recharge my powerbank, and so on. Last night, I was treated to a feast, which included a delicious 250g Striploin steak and tasty béarnaise sauce, both from good old Dalgaard. We ate outside in their garden as the weather was absolutely perfect. Also, thank you, Villy, for the nice walk around Midtpunktet, Trommen, and the pedestrian street. It was fun to see what had changed over the years.
I headed north, following Strandvejen, which is about 20 km to the ferries in Helsingør. It used to be Scanlines operating the two ferries (Tycho Brahe and Aurora), but I noticed that another company had taken over. I believe the name was Forsea. The ferries have also become electric.
The lady at the ticket counter only charged me 45 DKK for myself and my bike to get to Sweden. I was instructed to go to lane 5 — as the first one. So I parked my bike right up against the barrier at the front of the Aurora ferry.
I had a good chat with a couple of older Swedish gentlemen right behind me, each on their own beautiful Triumph motorcycles, fully packed with bags everywhere. One was a 900cc, and the other was a 1200cc. They were on their way home to Halmstad.
When we arrived in Helsingborg and I cycled off the ferry, I could immediately hear that some big music festival was in full swing near the harbor. I didn’t have time to check it out — I needed to get out of the harbor area and find my route north.
I found the route “Kattegattleden”, which I believe is Sweden’s national cycling route number 1. I knew nothing about it except that it follows the coast fairly closely all the way up to Gothenburg. The start of the route had a very beachy vibe, with lots of small ice cream stands lined up along the path, one after another. So, of course, I had to stop and enjoy an ice cream.
Later the route changed into something that reminded me of Denmark’s cozy old towns. This lasted for a while before the landscape shifted, making it clear that I was no longer in Denmark. There was much more moss, pine trees, and blueberry bushes. It was now a mix of summer houses and many expensive year-round homes. The number of large, luxury cars was quite high. Definitely a wealthy area. But with that ocean view, it’s understandable.
The weather was great, and wow, this route was just stunning. I hope it stays this beautiful all the way to Gothenburg.
I rode until I didn’t feel like it anymore and found a place called Råbacka Camping, located northwest of Ängelholm. I had covered 85 km (with help from the ferry), and I now have just over 300 km to Gothenburg. That equals three long days in the saddle..

Dag 16 – Lørdag d. 22. Juli 2023.
Jeg kørte fra Hørsholm kl. 11.15. Mange tak til Lene og Villy for husly for natten. Det var rart med et varmt bad, opladning af min powerbank mm. I aftes blev jeg budt på et festmåltid, der blandt andet bestod af en dejlig Striploin bøf på 250 gr og lækker bearnaise sovs, begge fra gode gamle Dahlgaard. Vi spiste ude i deres have da vejret var helt perfekt. Også tak til dig Villy for den hyggelige tur i midtpunktet, trommen og gågaden. Det var sjovt at se hvad der er sket i årenes løb.
Jeg fik vendt snuden mod nord, via Strandvejen er der vist ca 20 km til færgerne i Helsingør. Det var før i tiden Scanlines der stod for de to færger (Tycho Brahe og Aurora) men jeg kunne se at det var et andet firma der stod for dem nu. Mener der stod Forsea. Færgerne er desuden også blevet elektriske.
Damen i skranken ville kun have 45,- for at jeg og min cykel kunne komme til Sverige. Jeg blev bedt om at køre i bane 5 – som den første. Så jeg parkerede min cykel helt op ad bommen i fronten af Aurora færgen.
Jeg fik en god snak med et par modne ældre svenske herrer, der holdt lige bag mig, på hver deres flotte Triumph motorcykler, der var godt oppakket med tasker overalt. Det var en 900 og en 1200 cc. De var på vej hjem til Halmstad.
Da vi ankom til Helsingborg og jeg cyklede ud, kunne jeg med det samme høre at der var en eller anden stor musik festival i fuld gang tæt på færgerne. Det havde jeg ikke lige tid til at undersøge videre – jeg skulle ud af havneområdet og finde min rute nordpå.
Jeg fandt ruten “Kattegattleden”, som vist nok er Sveriges nationale cykelrute nr 1. Jeg havde intet viden om den, andet end at den lå forholdsvis tæt på kysten hele vejen op til Göteborg. Starten af ruten var meget Beach inspireret med en masse små iskiosker liggende ved stien ganske kort på hinanden. Så jeg måtte naturligvis lige stoppe og nyde en is.
Senere ændrede ruten til noget der godt kunne minde mig lidt om Danmarks hyggelige små gamle byer. Dette varede et stykke tid inden naturen ændrede sig, så man ikke var i tvivl om at man ikke var i Danmark mere. Meget mere moss og fyrretræer og blåbær buske. Nu var det et sommerhus område blandet med en masse dyre helårs boliger. Mængden af store dyre biler var tæmmelig høj. Helt klart et rigt område. Men med den udsigt til havet er det forståeligt nok jo.
Vejret var godt og for søren da også hvor var denne rute da bare smuk. Det må den da gerne fortsætte med hele vejen til Göteborg.
Jeg kørte indtil jeg ikke gad mere den dag og fandt noget der hed: Råbocka Camping, der ligger nordvest for Ängelholm. Jeg havde bevæget mig 85 km (med hjælpe fra færgen) og jeg har nu lidt over 300 km til Göteborg. Det svarer til tre lange dage i sadlen.
