Day 2/7 (2018 Summer Biketrip)
Intro: In the summer of 2018 (where scandinavia had 3 months of amazing hot & sunny weather) I rode my ebike 400 km in Denmark, Norway and Sweden in a total of 7 days. It was my very first bike trip and I learned a lot about this kind of adventure – I’ll never forget it!
Tuesday 17th of July 2018 (2/7)
Last night I arrived to my small secluded campground in the forrest in Vikene, Norway. I found the spot back home on google maps. It’s at the end of a small sideroad in the forrest, a dead-end. Just a few hundred meters from the island Hankø. Perfect for me.
When I arrived and started to set up my tent, it was in a total darkness. I had forgotten my headlamp (nice work brainiac!). Instead I used my small and super cheap front-light from my bike. It fits nicely in my mouth to. taste: 3/10.
I woke quite early today because of some light rain – was a soothing sound.
Today my body was aching a lot after so many kilometers that first day (some 140 km). I was also severely sunburned on my neck, and a bit on my arms. I was planning to camp a day or two in this place, I was in no rush to move and I wasn’t really looking forward for a trip on the bike today.
But I had to make a supplies run to a store. I was running low on water and I definitely needed to buy some sunscreen lotion. So I took my bike, without the heavy load and rode down to the town of Vikene to a grosserie shop called Joker. I tried to take a shortcut but google maps was a huge lier (!), so I had to take a way longer way. but I finally got there in one piece.
I bought 2 bottles of 2,5 l. water, sunscreen lotion and a bag of paprika flavored potato chips. On the way back home i remembered another shop I passed last night. A Kiwi (supermarket). Its located near the forrest, so not that big of a detour for me back home to the forrest camp. I wanted to get some extra water. (this was in the 2018 4-month long heatwave in europe remember).
I bought 3 bottles of 1,5 liter of water and a pack of Captain Crackers. I just love those! After that I headed back into the forrest to my campsite. I relaxed for the rest of the day – with plenty of water lol. Should have enough for several days now.
