Day 3/7 (2018 Summer Biketrip)
Intro: In the summer of 2018 (where scandinavia had 3 months of amazing hot & sunny weather) I rode my ebike 400 km in Denmark, Norway and Sweden in a total of 7 days. It was my very first bike trip and I learned a lot about this kind of adventure – I’ll never forget it!
Wednesday 18th of July 2018 (3/7)
Today I was pretty much not doing anything else then relaxing and reading in my book from the guys from the tv-series: “Kurs mod fjerne kyster”. It’s so good! They are two brothers that borrowed their parents big sailboat and decided to sail around the world, getting visitors on and off during the years it took to complete the circumnavigation. the tv-serie / family captured the hearts and mind of most of denmarks population in those years. I hear a second book is on the way? can’t wait!
During my lazy day I realized that I actually didn’t had a specific plan about my route back home to Frederikshavn, Denmark. I didn’t really wanna travel back the same route – also because of the ferry departure times from Larvik to Hirtshals would make it a bit annoying for me.
I could do the about 100 km north to Oslo and then Take the Stena Saga ferry directly to Frederikshavn. hmmm yeah but there was a third and way more adventurous way…
I was going to travel the 250 km south, passing the norwegian/swedish border at Svinesund bridge and ending up down at the city of Göteborg. It’s a costal town, located directly on the opposite side of the water of Frederikshavn, Denmark. It would be way cheaper to because of the much shorter ferry ride.
But 250 km is quite the ride for me. It would take more than 2 days for me for sure… hmm I haven’t researched that route at all back home on Google Earth lol. It was exciting! I was going to do 3 days of bike travel into the unknown, only loosely aiming at Göteborg without knowing where to set up camp at all. I figured I would be able to find some suitable camp-places in the woods near the road I was going to travel on.
Right! I was going to start the adventure the very next day.
