Day 4/7 (2018 Summer Biketrip)
Intro: In the summer of 2018 (where scandinavia had 3 months of amazing hot & sunny weather) I rode my ebike 400 km in Denmark, Norway and Sweden in a total of 7 days. It was my very first bike trip and I learned a lot about this kind of adventure – I’ll never forget it!
Thursday 19th of July 2018 (4/7)
I woked up full of energy and with a smile on my face. I packed up all my gear and left my cozy campsite in the forrest at about 10.00 am. I’d like to come back to this place another time.
I got started riding and it didn’t took that long before I was in the city of Frederiksstad, with I know very well, but when I got to the old bridge that goes over to the “Gamla Stan”, there where signs telling me that the bridge was closed for bikes, they where doing some maintenance – damn! but there was also a sign telling me that down below somewhere there would be a special ferry just for bikes. I had a bit of trouble trying to navigate the residential area to get down to the river. The signs where not making any sense, they had me bike up and down a lot of very steep residential streets and I got a bit lost at some point lol. but finally I got down to the little cute red ferry that could sail me across the river.
The crossing on the cute red ferry only took a few minutes, and it didn’t cost me anything either, made me enjoy the ride a tiny bit more hehe.
On the other side I got to talk to a nice guy who was very interested in what I was doing and wanted to know all about my weird setup on the bike. I forgot to ask to take a photo of him because he was a nice guy to talk to for sure.
After the river crossing I kept on riding, the weather was nice and my spirit was high! My next goal was going to be the border from Norway to sweden. The border area is called ‘Svinesund’. While taking a short break under way, I snapped a photo of some nice scenery.
I will never forget the insane long and steep climb I endured just before I got to the Svinesund bridge at the border. I had to stop four times to catch my breath! that was no fun 🙂.
Here I am crossing the border on the old Svinesund bridge, taking a photo of the new one where the E6 highway is. such a pretty view!
Not that long after the border, I was getting tired, so I decided to slowly start looking for a suitable place to set up my camp. I had only biked 66 km today out of the 250 km down to Göteborg. Sometimes you just dont have the energy hehe.
